Edward Lynn
December 26, 1926 to October 28, 2024
Edward, a Chicago native, was born on December 26, 1926, to Edward Lynn and Aletha Chandler. He served in the Army for two years, stationed in Naples, Italy, headquarters office. Edward is a beloved husband to Antoinette Lynn (Delisi) (deceased 2014); father to Deborah Grant; father-in-law to William Grant; grandfather to Lauren Grant and Nicole Main; brother to Elizabeth Nesbitt and Rosemary O’Brien (deceased 2022); brother-in-law to John Nesbitt, PJ O’Brien, Leonard Delisi (deceased 2018), Samuel Delisi (deceased 2017) and more; and uncle to Mary Jo Weis and Jean Marie Nesbitt (deceased 1998) and countless other nieces and nephews.
Edward resided in the Chicagoland area, and in 2018 he moved to Florida with his daughter and family. In 2022, Edward became a resident at the Alexander Nininger State Veterans’ Nursing Home, where he enjoyed life until his passing. He was a favorite with the staff and was known as funny and sweet. He loved Sunday services with Reverend Greer and Friday happy hours with beer and pizza. The family thanks the staff, especially the wonderful, caring, respectful ladies in Delta Green, activities, and restorative care. The family also conveys its love and thanks to Edward’s amazing personal caregivers, Regina White and Marcia Catao. The family could not have done life without them during the years Edward lived with Deborah and William.
Edward traveled the world with his loving wife, Antoinette. Some favorite countries were England, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Egypt, Greece, Israel, and China. His family and friends would tell countless fond stories. Edward’s humor was dry and funny; he always wore a smile on his face and was a kind man to all. One of his favorite statements was to do “everything in moderation” – with this lifestyle, he lived to the beautiful age of 97.
