Gary Thomas Blandino, 67, of Plantation, passed away suddenly July 2, 2022. He was born April 24, 1955 to Ruth (Stumpf) and Alphonse Blandino in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife Diane; son Matthew; brother Michael (Susan); sister Linda (Phil) Powell; nephews Tom (Chanell), Jed and Joey and niece Alison; great niece and nephews Racheal, Aiden and Luca.
Gary graduated in 1973 from Chaminade High School and continued his education to receive a BA from Biscayne College and an MBA from Nova University. He was inducted into the Chaminade-Madonna Alumni Hall of Fame and presented the Founders award. His career spanned over three decades as an Account Executive and sales/service professional from Cisco Systems reaching the highest levels of his trade.
A long-time resident of Plantation, he attended All Saints Catholic Church in Sunrise where he was an ever present volunteer, teaching Religious Education, decorating for Christmas, manning the roasted corn booth at the carnival and notably flipping pancakes the 3rd Sunday of the month. In 2018 he was honored by the Archdiocese of Miami during the Jubilaeum as a volunteer of the year.
Sir Knight Gary was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, St. John Neumann council #5971. Fr. Edward McCarthy Assembly #3054 where he served tirelessly as Past Grand Knight and most recently Faithful Navigator. He was a constant presence in the Color Corp, attending many services for brother Knights which he believed strongly to be a calling. He organized and participated in countless activities always “for the good of the order”.
Gary was an avid sports enthusiast enjoying the Yankees (never the Red Sox), the Marlins’ World Series and a practice round at the Masters Tournament. He enjoyed at least one round of golf a week with his “squad” always hoping to have a good day at the “office” and often lamenting that it would have been better had he learned to play right-handed.
Gary was a man of faith and integrity and will be sorely missed by those family and friends who loved and admired him.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, July 10th from 4:00pm – 8:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:00pm all at Valerie Panciera’s Landmark Funeral Home. Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be Monday, July 11th, 11:00am at All Saints Catholic Church, 10900 West Oakland Park Boulevard, Sunrise followed by entombment at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in North Lauderdale.
