It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maritza Elena Mota de Salazar. Maritza was born on August 15, 1937, in El Sombrero, Estado Guarico, Venezuela.
A devoted wife, Maritza shared 61 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Miguel Salazar. Together, they built a loving family, including two daughters, Maritza Elena Salazar-Hooks and Michelle Carlina Salazar, and two cherished sons-in-law, Richard Lee Hooks and Tibulo Ignacio Camacho.
Maritza's legacy continues through her three adored grandchildren: Melissa Helena Angulo Salazar, married to David Schick; Miguel Angel Angulo Salazar, married to Martha Alejandra Guerrero; and Francesco Miguel Pace Salazar. Her family was her pride and joy, and she was deeply loved by them all.
Maritza dedicated 27 years of her life to teaching high school students the wonders of physics and mathematics. She was not only an educator but also a mentor and inspiration to many. Her passion for learning and her commitment to her students left an indelible mark on the community. She also enjoyed doing sports, and she was part of the Distrito Federal (in Venezuela) Volleyball professional team, from 1958 to 1960.
As the youngest of a large family, Maritza was preceded in death by her nine siblings, who now await her in heaven. Her passing marks the end of an era, but her spirit and love will continue to guide and comfort those she leaves behind.
Maritza will be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family, her generosity of spirit, and her quiet strength. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 17th, 2:00pm - 4:00pm with a prayer service at 3:00pm.
