MARGARET L. HINELY, 100, of Palm Coast, passed away May 3, 2023. Born September 23, 1922 to Carl and Lillian (Eckstein) Martienssen in Philadelphia, PA.
She moved in 1954 to Hollywood with her son, and lived in Hollywood the next 65 years before moving to Palm Coast to be close to relatives. Although she worked several jobs over the years, her most enjoyable work came toward the end of her career when she was employed by Eller and Company in Port Everglades, which were agents for the ships coming into port. She later helped to open its travel agency branch at the port, and worked as a travel agent the rest of her career.
She always wanted to help others in need, and volunteered as a Gray Lady, working with patients at Broward General Hospital starting in 1962. After retirement she volunteered at Memorial Hospital in Hollywood for 30 years, working with patients, especially those who were alone, providing assistance and often shopping for them when needed.
She is survived by her son James (Maria), grandson Chris (Jenna) and great granddaughter Raelyn, and granddaughter Cathy (Carl) McNutt with great grandchildren Ainsley and Hudson.
Visitation will be from 10AM to 12 noon on Friday, May 12, immediately followed by a prayer service at Landmark Funeral Home, 4200 Hollywood Boulevard. Entombment in Forest Lawn Central Cemetery, 499 NW 27 Avenue, Fort Lauderdale.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Florida Lions Eye Bank.
