Anu Madan was a citizen of the world and a bird of paradise who most recently alighted in Miami, Florida. Anu died unexpectedly on October 2, 2021 in Miami at the age of 42. Anu is survived by her mother Suman, and her sister, Suchi, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom adored her. Anu was born in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1979 to Vipin and Suman Madan. She is predeceased by her father, Vipin.
Anu studied fashion design at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and business administration at West Virginia University. Anu also studied Spanish in Barcelona and was fluent in the language. After living in West Virginia and Spain, Anu made Miami her home, finding it a good match for her multi-lingual, multi-cultural background. Anu taught English to students around the world and eventually founded My English Café, a language school that helped non-English speakers to learn English. Anu launched the Anukshah fashion brand in 2012, designing resort wear that specializes in using ancient Indian techniques in a modern way. Most recently, Anu opened and served as the sales manager for an insurance company in North Miami.
A viewing, followed by a funeral is scheduled for 8:15 am on Friday, October 8 at the Landmark Funeral Home, 4200 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to compassion.com in Anu’s memory.
