Visitation will take place on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Fr. Joseph Lucas at The Orthodox Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, 16601 NW 77th Court, Miami Lakes, Florida 33016.

Funeral service will take place Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at The Orthodox Church of Christ the Saviour in Miami Lakes. Interment will follow the service at Vista Memorial Gardens, Orthodox Section.

Charles Devereaux Doten, 71, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021 at his home in Miramar, Florida following a long battle with cancer.

Chuck was born in Ellsworth, Maine to Scott and Jean Doten. He grew up in Metuchen, New Jersey and, at the age of 17, moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. He met Valerie (nee Williams), his beloved wife of 50 years, in high school in Wyoming, Ohio.

In 1973, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in biology and, shortly thereafter, moved to Miami, Florida where he launched his career in healthcare. He began as a laboratory technician at North Shore Hospital and later became CEO of Kindred Hospital Coral Gables and Promise Hospital Miami Lakes, the latter from which he retired in 2019. He was well loved and respected.

Chuck was dedicated to his church, The Orthodox Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Miami Lakes, Florida. He served as Choir Director for 32 years, as well as on the Church Board as Member, President and Treasurer. He was a good man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Valerie, son Benjamin and his children Zachariah and Zoe, daughter Anne, daughter Claire (Keith Vaccato) and their four children Lucas and Ethan Freeman and Julian and Kyra Vaccato, brother David Doten and sister Jean Graham Doten, and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Scott E. and Jean B. Doten and brothers Scott T., Thomas and Christopher Doten.
