Denise Desaulnier Freeland, age 69, passed away peacefully at home on April 27 after a brave battle with ALS.

She was born October 8, 1951 to Edward and Blanche Desaulnier of Danielson, Connecticut. She attended Killingly High School, where she wrote her class ode, and graduated from Bryant College as Valedictorian. She married Russell Freeland in July 1973 and moved with him to his home state of Florida. She worked for many years as a Funeral Director where she was a great comfort to countless families in difficult times. Denise was happiest when surrounded by her family and good friends. She loved birds, music, and poetry, especially Robert Frost. She was a voracious reader and volunteered regularly at the Broward County Library. She will be remembered for many things including her smile and sense of humor, sizable collection of tie-dyed tee shirts, and unending devotion to her family.

Denise is survived by her son Jared Freeland, daughter Ivy Kennett, their father Russell Freeland, their spouses Sarah Freeland and Jack Kennett, her grandson Guardian Freeland, her brother Edward Desaulnier and his wife Mary Lou Desaulnier, nephew Matthew Desaulnier and family, niece Kerri Beaudreault and family, many aunts and uncles and her special Aunt Alice Sears. Denise was preceded in death by her nephew, Benjamin T. Desaulnier.
