Donald Erskine Harvey, age 75, of Miramar passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Memorial Hospital Pembroke. Don was a great partner in life, son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, friend and most of all an amazing father and grandfather. Don was born on January 8, 1944 in New Orleans but grew up in Miami from an early age. Like many young men during that era, Don proudly served his country in the United States Army with tours in Okinawa, Hawaii, Vietnam, and Maryland. Honorably discharged in the mid-70’s, Don returned his young family to South Florida intent on setting roots to provide and care for his family. Don developed a passion for golf and began working with various golf courses throughout South Florida and would continue that career path until his retirement. In his later years Don found camaraderie and a sense of purpose as a member of the Masons. It was his honor and privilege to assist families in need sometimes driving parents and children to Shriners Hospital in Tampa for medical care. His family will remember Don Harvey as the patriarch who had a great sense of humor, a sly smile with a no BS style. A man who loved each of them without condition or bias, always arriving extraordinarily early for all family events who when asked always brought the ice. His presence will be missed for always but his unconditional love will live on in both his daughters and his grandchildren. Don is survived by his loving daughters, Jacquelyn (Jeffrey) Awve of Davie, FL and Bernice (Dean) Dicesore of Canton, MI; four grandsons, Conrad and Kyle Awve and Blake and Drew Dicesore; his devoted girlfriend of 27 years, Lynn McClaine and former wife, mother of his daughters, Yoshiko Durinski, niece, nephews, cousins, friends and a life long list of golf buddies. Preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Legakis, stepfather, Steve Legakis, father, Ralph Harvey, Sr., brother Ralph Harvey, Jr. and Granddaughter, Hope Dicesore. To honor Don’s military service, love of country and family in lieu of flowers his family requests donations to the Honor Flight Network. https://www.honorflight.org/donate-now/ Gathering of family and friends Thursday, October 24, 2019, 6 to 8 PM with a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 PM at Landmark Funeral Home.
