Eloina (Lily) Colón Ortiz, 76, of Hollywood, Florida, succumbed to lung cancer at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, June 29th, 2019. Lily is survived by her loving husband Juan B. Ortiz of 58 years, son Luis, daughter Juana, son Gabriel, daughter Nydia (Joey), daughter Jazmin (Jesus), sisters Hilda, Rosa and Tata, brothers Oscar, Edison and Angel, 21 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and extended family in Puerto Rico and mainland USA. Lily was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to all. Lily was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and came to the United States mainland with her husband in the 60’s. She loved to cook, create recipes, paint, craft, dance and sew. She loved having family and friends over. Lily’s home was always filled with family, friends, delicious food, love and laughter. She took great pride in all that she did especially her gardening as she loved to plant flowers. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, poker and 21. She also loved to play pranks on her sons and telling jokes, nothing made her happier than watching those around her laugh and be filled with joy at her jokes. We extend our gratitude to the Hernandez family who took time to bring our family food and supporting our family thru this difficult time. Also a heartfelt thank you to all of our family, friends, neighbors and coworkers that have shown such tremendous support, love and encouragement throughout this journey. A special thank you to Vitas Hospice and her nurses for their loving care and support and to Landmark Funeral Home for helping us with the funeral arrangements. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Landmark Funeral Home, 4200 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood, FL 33021 on July 5th, 2019. God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you, and whispered “Come to Me”. You do not deserve what you went through, and so He gave you rest, God’s garden must be beautiful, for He only takes the best. In time we watched you fade away, our hearts were broken as you fought so hard to stay. But when we saw you sleeping, so peacefully from pain, we could not wish you back, to suffer that again.
