Frank V. “Bud” Reed, 93, left his earthly home on Friday, March 29, 2019 at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Youngstown on April 1, 1925 to Frank and Louise DiBianco. Frank served in the Navy during WWII on the USS Sumter for six invasions in the South Pacific. After being Honorably Discharged he returned to Youngstown and established himself as a residential builder. Frank owned Liberty Bowling Lanes in Youngstown. He also managed the construction of shopping malls in the US and Puerto Rico. As a talented woodworker, he built custom furniture and cabinets. His life passion was golf and was fortunate to be the teaching pro at Port Malabar Country Club where he taught many astronauts, including Neil Armstrong and Pete Conrad. He owned a driving range at the Cooper Colony Golf Course. Upon his second retirement, he returned to golf as a ranger until 2013. Still not quite ready to retire, he became assistant “chocolatier” in the family business. Frank is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Norma Piccione; his son Frank, Jr. (Tina); daughter, Debra (Patrick) Patrissi; grandchildren, Diana Patrissi, Angelina (Daniel) Whalen, Jonathan (Laura) DiCandia and; great grandson Cade Whalen and multiple nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his special Aunt Jenny who was like a mother to him; a sister, Margaret Minnow and brother, Robert Reed.
