Gloria Capotorto, age 85, formerly of Hollywood, FL. passed away January 8, 2021 in Fayetteville, Georgia.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Dr. Diana Marie Concepcion and Erich J. Metzler, sisters Isolina and Isabel Cintron, Amy McKuhen, Doris Schweppe, many nieces and nephews, and grandchildren Noah, Sofia and Joseph Metzler Concepcion. Gloria, who was lovingly known as “Yitin”, “Glo”, “Titi”, “Tia”, “Nanny”, and “Mamita” was born in Patillas, Puerto Rico and came to New York City as a young girl to begin a new life. There she completed her education and went to Secretarial school where she learned shorthand (a lost art) and became an executive secretary. In 1974, Gloria and her daughter moved to Florida to be closer to extended family, which always took priority in her life. Gloria worked hard, was a sharp business woman, a meticulous housewife, an amazing mother, and had a heart of gold. Her generosity was shown to many in our family, with her friends, and in her community. She lived life to the fullest as she traveled, became an outstanding tennis player (often beating players 20 years her junior), took up ballroom dancing, gourmet cooking, and enjoyed time with her grandchildren. She spent many weekends attending bible studies, retreats, and never stopped growing in her Catholic faith. Mom was classic, fashionable, loved to laugh and celebrate, always had fresh flowers in her home, enjoyed music and whenever a “good number” came on, she was ready to dance. She had a beautiful smile, twinkly hazel eyes, and cooked big delicious meals with ease that gave her great satisfaction. Gloria often spoke of her volunteer work at Respect Life, where she offered support and compassion to single mothers, and arranged layettes for the new babies. Gloria gave much of herself and was fierce in all aspects of her life, especially in the love she showed to others. We felt her love every day and always believed her when she said, “I Love You More!”
