Margaret Caito Kennedy passed away peacefully in her home in Pembroke Pines, Florida on May 14, 2019 at the age of 98 years. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on September 16, 1920 and moved to Miami Shores with her parents, brother and two sisters in 1939. She graduated from Grace Martin Business School in Pittsburgh and Lindsey Hopkins in Miami and worked initially as a legal secretary in Pittsburgh and later for the Office of the Adjutant General of the Air Transport Command during WWII in Miami. It was in this office that she met Edward Joseph Kennedy Jr. whom she married on March 5, 1946. They made their family home in Miami where they raised five children. After her husband died unexpectedly in 1964, she went back to work to support herself and her children and was able to put them all through college. Over a period of nearly 20 years, she worked for two schools within the Dade County School System and for Parkway Regional Medical Center, retiring in 1986. She was a devout Catholic and spent much of her life making rosaries which were distributed to missions worldwide. She was, most recently, a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. She is survived by her sons Edward (Lorraine) and Thomas (Ann), and daughters Margaret Slaton (Wayne) and Kathleen Fuentes (George) along with 9 grandchildren, Patricia (Rod), Kathryn (Rob), Bethany (Don), Eric, Katherine (Pablo), Grace, Andrew (Andrea), Thomas, Raymond (Sarah) and 7 great grandchildren, Eleanor, Charlotte, Edward, John, Emma, Joy and Marie. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Marianne Farrey, d. 2015 (Francis d. 2019) and by her granddaughter Helen, d.1990. She is certainly in heaven now with her parents and siblings, with her husband and with Marianne and Helen. Visitation is Sunday, May 19 from 2 to 6 PM at Landmark Funeral Home, 4200 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on May 20 at 10:30 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 701 North Hiatus Road, Pembroke Pines, FL. The family requests that in lieu of flowers remembrances made in honor of Margaret be made through memorial masses or donations to the Marian Center School, Miami Gardens, FL.
