Gone too soon Matthew Mark Penland was born in Asheville, NC on August 10, 1987. He moved to Hollywood, FL when he was 2. He spent his childhood playing baseball and staying active with his friends. Matthew was very close to his family, he would do anything for them. Matthew was a very loving person with the biggest heart. He attended Little Flower Catholic School and became an Alter Boy at a young age. Matthew was very protective over his family, he guarded them with all his heart. Matthew was always a good teenager with exceptional grades throughout his schooling. He was quiet at first, but once you knew him the laughter would start. No one could help but laugh along with him. He was an intelligent and motivated person. When he wanted to achieve something he would just do it. Matthew attended FSU. He loved roller blading and went on to play ice hockey at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School. He had a close knit circle of friends that he kept beginning at a young age. Matthew was extremely loyal, fun and had a bold personality. He excelled at everything he did. Although he had many lifelong friends, Matthew was also very independent. Matthew was extremely close to his sister and took care of her at a very young age. He was her protector. When Matthew’s son Myles was born April 28, 2013, his whole world changed. From that point on “family man” became his middle name. He fell in love with Roxanne, they were married August 7, 2017. They had a baby girl Riley on August 21, 2017. Alexa was Roxanne’s child but Matthew loved and treated her as his own. Matthew was a wonderful son, brother, friend, husband and father. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. To know him was to love him.
