Virginia will be buried in the sacred and hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Virginia’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38108.

Visitation will be Friday, December 17, 2021, 6:00pm – 9:00pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm all at Valerie Panciera’s Landmark Funeral Home. Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be Saturday, December 18th, 1:00pm at Nativity Catholic Church.

Virginia Duffin (nee Vyleta), 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her devoted family in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on December 11, 2021. Virginia was born in Cicero, Illinois on December 6, 1933.

Virginia met and married the love of her life, Francis J. Duffin, while she was a stenographer and he a Special Agent for the FBI in the Chicago field office. A highlight of her career with the Bureau was when she participated in a successful undercover operation. Director J. Edgar Hoover wrote a letter of commendation to thank her for her service.

Virginia and Frank enjoyed 57 years of wedded bliss. Virginia had the privilege to stay at home to raise her children and manage the household. She treasured the gift of her children above all of her many blessings. Virginia was a lifelong fan of the Miami Dolphins and Miami Heat which was both a source of joy as well as stress for her!

Virginia is survived by and will be greatly missed by her children Doreen (Gregory) Anderson, Tina (Thomas) Bixby, Frank (Catherine) Duffin, Thomas (Marie) Duffin; sister Valerie Dawson of Boca Raton, FL; sister-in-law Mary “Tina” Duffin of Malden, MA; grandchildren Katherine, Danielle (Eric) Stroble, Frank JR, Michael, Thomas, Sean; great-granddaughter Charlotte; great-grandson arriving in 2022 and many nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Francis J. Duffin; infant daughter Kathleen Mary; parents Rudolph and Emily Vyleta; and brothers Rudolph Vyleta and Richard Vyleta.

Virginia’s family is grateful to the staff of Meridian at Waterways and VITAS Hospice for their compassionate care and treatment.
