Life Reflection

Celebrating the life and legacy of
Rosleore “Mayou” Genece, age 73, of Port Salut, Haiti. She passed away on Monday March 25, 2024 in her home surrounded by family. She was raised by her loving late Aunt and Uncle Mr. Jean and Mrs. Germaine Mazarin. She was known for her strength, sense of humor, dedication to her family, boundless love, gracious wisdom and her strong faith in God.

Mayou graduated from College de Secretariat Moderne. She worked at HAVA (Haitian Association of Voluntary Agencies) starting as an Executive Secretary and ending her career there as the Director. She departed from this position to cofound a business, Roselore Fashion, where she designed and created custom clothing. In this venture, she also founded a training for women infected with AIDS in a year-long program providing sewing lessons, to support students towards self-employment. She was a person of kindness, and a willingness to help others. Before she became sick she started planning her dream to open an orphanage in Haiti.

She married her high school sweetheart and brother of her best friend, Eddy Genece, on August 3rd, 1974 in Montreal, Canada. They went on and raised five children which she adored and loved with her whole being. She never wavered in supporting her family. She often said “Map bay genoum pou tout piti mwen yo, epi rest la pou Bondye”.  In addition to being a wife and mother she was also a sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to many.
